(Through The Bible) – John (Part 2): Zac Poonen (Transcript)

Here is the full transcript of Bible teacher Zac Poonen’s teaching on Gospel of John (Part 2) which is part of the popular series called Through The Bible.

Zac Poonen’s teaching on the Gospel of John emphasizes the significance of a life surrendered to God, where he discusses the exchange of authority between Jesus and the Father as a model for believers. He highlights the importance of being filled with the Holy Spirit for a secure and effective ministry, urging believers, especially the youth, to seek this anointing earnestly.

Poonen points out that the true works of Jesus include not only miracles but also everyday acts of service and humility, encouraging believers to focus on doing God’s will in all aspects of life. He stresses the need for personal humility, immediate obedience to the Holy Spirit, and a genuine love for others, reflecting the nature of Christ. The teaching also covers the dignity and sovereignty of Jesus in the face of trials, as exemplified in His interactions with Pontius Pilate.

Poonen underscores the importance of recognizing women’s value in God’s plan, as seen in Mary Magdalene being the first to witness the resurrected Jesus. Finally, he concludes with the idea that spiritual victory and true servanthood come from a place of humility and complete dependence on God.

Understanding John’s Gospel

Let’s turn to John’s Gospel and Chapter 6. John’s Gospel Chapter 6. Let’s look at verse 38, which I believe is the one verse in all the Gospels that describes most clearly why Jesus came to earth. If you were to ask the average Christian, “Why did Jesus come to earth?” they will give you the Sunday school answer, “He came to die for our sins.”

Good, but that’s not the full answer.
