The Voice Of The Spirit: A. W. Tozer Sermon (Transcript)

Here is the full transcript of A. W. Tozer’s sermon titled “The Voice Of The Spirit.”

A. W. Tozer’s sermon “The Voice Of The Spirit” is a profound exposition on the role of the Holy Spirit in convicting individuals of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Tozer emphasizes the Holy Spirit’s persistent endeavor to reach the hearts of individuals, urging them towards repentance and a deeper relationship with God. He portrays the Holy Spirit as a voice that cannot be ignored, one that speaks directly to the conscience, bypassing mere intellectual assent to faith.

The sermon illustrates the tragic state of those who resist this divine voice, leading to a spiritual death where the voice of the Holy Spirit no longer penetrates their hearts. Tozer uses vivid imagery to describe this condition, likening it to zombies or the walking dead, who live in a state of spiritual numbness. He calls for a humble and receptive heart towards the voice of the Holy Spirit, stressing the importance of responding to its conviction with genuine repentance and faith.

“The Voice Of The Spirit” serves as a powerful reminder of the necessity of heeding the Holy Spirit’s call for transformation and renewal in the Christian life.

TRANSCRIPT:

Introduction to Divine Messages and Redemption

According to John 16th chapter, verses 11 to 10, 7 to 10 inclusive, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you. But if I depart, I will send Him unto you. And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on Me; Of righteousness, because I go to My Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”

That is what I want to speak on particularly, but in the book of Revelation, chapters 2 and 3, seven times these words occur: “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith.” It says, under the churches here, because it is talking particularly under the churches.
