Here is the full transcript of David Wilkerson’s sermon titled “Counterfeit Spirituality.”

In this sermon, Pastor Wilkerson calls for a deep examination of faith, emphasizes the importance of obeying God’s word, and stresses the need for genuine repentance and separation from sin. He encourages ministers to stand firm against false teachings and prioritize righteous judgment and unity within the church. Throughout the sermon, Wilkerson warns of the dangers of counterfeit spirituality, which includes claiming to have faith while remaining enslaved to worldly desires and refusing to acknowledge one’s sin, as well as blame shifting and denial tactics used to cover up false teachings and sin in religious circles.

TRANSCRIPT:

… after and leave it open there, I’m going to be preaching almost exclusively from John, the 8th chapter. The Holy Spirit opened this chapter to me, and I’ve been in it for a number of weeks. Now, when you get that, I’d like you to open it to John the 8th chapter, then look me in the eye for a minute. Let me talk to you as pastor to congregation.

I’m senior pastor. I’m not that old, and I don’t like the word “senior” even, but I happen to be the oldest of all these young men around here. And you didn’t need to say, “Amen,” you know what I meant? Here’s what I want to say to you: If any one of these pastors, including myself tonight, if we get to sound in life, we’re preaching right at you, then we’ve got the mind of God.

Because if I’ve ever been in a church, why say, does he know something about me or is he aiming right at me? Then I know it’s God. But if I can generalize and say, “Well, I can relax, this is for somebody else,” I wonder if the man’s really been praying like he should.
