(Through The Bible) – Romans (Pt. 1): Zac Poonen (Transcript)

Here is the full transcript of Bible teacher Zac Poonen’s teaching on Book of Romans (Part 1) which is part of the popular series called Through The Bible.

Bible teacher Zac Poonen’s teaching on the Book of Romans (Part 1) delves deeply into the foundational aspects of Christian faith, emphasizing the importance of understanding and receiving everything as a gift from God. He highlights that nothing we possess, including our intelligence, health, or even our spiritual awakenings, such as forgiveness of sins or being filled with the Holy Spirit, is earned by us but is generously given.

Poonen points out the dangers of spiritual pride and the subtle boasting that can occur when individuals consider these divine gifts as their achievements. He urges believers to undergo a thorough demolition of their pride and self-righteousness to truly embrace the full gospel. Using the metaphor of justification, Poonen explains how God makes our lives ‘straight’ in His sight through Christ, regardless of our past sins, illustrating it with the process of justifying text in word processing.

He draws parallels between the biblical story of Abraham’s faith and believers’ justification by faith, emphasizing that salvation, peace with God, and the hope of sharing in God’s glory are unmerited favors. Poonen’s teachings call for a deep, introspective examination of one’s spiritual life to recognize and accept the totality of God’s grace, aiming to foster a humble and grace-filled walk with God.
